Children's Obesity Fund: "Stay Fit, Have Fun"

One of our Omidi Brothers Charities, Children’s Obesity Fund, has the supreme pleasure of co-sponsoring a “Stay Fit, Have Fun” day.

Westport Heights Elementary School is a public school in the Los Angeles Unified School District in Westchester, CA, concerned with the health of their over 500 students. In order to promote the health and well-being of their students, and to help in the fight against children’s obesity, the school will be holding an event on Friday, May 10th, called “Stay Fit Have Fun,” an event that will be co-sponsored by one of our Omidi Brothers Charities Children’s Obesity Fund and professional skateboarder Manny Santiago.

The event will feature activities and education throughout the day that will promote the importance of healthy and active lifestyles among the students and faculty at Westport Heights. Some of the activities and education that the children will have to look forward to include:

  • Co-sponsor Manny Santiago and his teammate for OC Ramps Dave Bachinski providing a skateboarding demonstration and their enthusiasm for staying fit and active.
  • Each student will gifted a copy of the book, “I am Healthy! Affirmations for Health and Well-being” from the I AM Foundation. The book is an incredibly valuable resource for children, parents, and even teachers, offering methods to improve healthy decision making. The book also includes a handy workbook section to get parents and children involved.
  • Healthy snacks and bottled water for the children will be donated by Whole Foods Market in El Segundo and People Water – who donate to clean water projects around the world – respectively.
  • An address from Los Angeles City Council member Eric Garcetti will also deliver an address to the students.

This event is a powerful display of support for the children in our community and we hope that it will be the first of many great events to promote the benefits of health and wellness among young people.
